A prostate massager is a curved anal toy shaped to press on the prostate, a walnut-sized gland a few centimetres inside the rectum on the front wall. Many designs add an outer arm that rests on the perineum, the area between the testicles and the anus, and some vibrate.
What to compare
- The curve and the widest diameter: 25 to 32 mm suits most beginners
- A flared base or handle that stays outside the body
- An outer arm for the perineum
- Vibration, how many settings and how it is powered
- Remote or button control
How do you use a prostate massager?
Take your time and relax first. Apply plenty of water-based lubricant, insert the massager slowly with the curve pointing towards the front of the body, and let it settle. Small rocking movements and gentle pressure usually work better than thrusting. If it vibrates, start on the lowest setting.
Safety and care
Never force a toy and stop if there is pain. Only use toys with a flared base for anal play. Wash the massager before and after every use with warm water and a mild soap, keeping any buttons or charging points dry, and speak to a doctor first if you have a prostate or bowel condition.
