Cookie policy

Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. This page explains which ones avelunexa.com uses.

What we use today

We use only the cookies that the shop needs in order to work. They are set when you do something that requires them, such as adding a product to your basket. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media cookies or analytics cookies on this website. We do count visits, without cookies, as explained below.

The cookies the shop needs

  • Basket and session cookies, whose names begin with woocommerce or wp_woocommerce_session, remember what is in your basket and keep your checkout working. They expire when the session ends or after a few days.
  • Cookies that keep your account signed in, if you create an account and log in.
  • Security cookies that help protect the checkout and your account from misuse.
  • A cookie called av_nm, only if you ask us not to count your visits. It lasts for a year and records nothing but that choice.

The law allows cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you ask for without asking for consent first, which is why this website does not show a cookie banner.

How we count visits, without cookies

To see which pages are useful and where the shop needs to improve, we count visits ourselves, on our own website. The figures are daily totals and nothing else: how many times each page was opened and roughly how long it stayed open, which website or search engine a visit came from, whether a phone, a tablet or a computer was used, the time zone the device is set to, how many times a product was added to a basket, and which checkout fields produced an error.

We do not use a cookie or any other identifier for this, and we do not keep your IP address with these totals. We cannot tell one visitor from another, follow what one visitor does or connect a visit to an order. Nothing is sent to an analytics or advertising company. The law allows this kind of counting without asking for consent first, as long as we explain it and you can say no.

You can say no here:

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as the same request and you do not need to do anything.

PayPal at checkout

When you reach the payment step, PayPal’s secure checkout loads and PayPal may set its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud. Those cookies are controlled by PayPal; you can read how it uses them in its own cookie statement.

Other websites and embedded content

This website does not embed videos, social-media buttons or advertising from other companies. If you follow a link to another website, that site has its own cookie and privacy policy, which we do not control.

If this changes

If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary, such as advertising cookies or an analytics service from another company, we will ask for your permission first and update this page.

Managing cookies

You can delete cookies, or tell your browser not to accept them, in your browser settings. If you block the cookies that the shop needs, your basket and checkout will not work properly. For guidance on managing cookies, see the Information Commissioner’s Office website at ico.org.uk.
