Kegel Balls

Discover your own way to explore.

Kegel balls, also called jiggle balls or Ben Wa balls, are small balls worn inside the vagina to exercise the pelvic floor. Holding them in place makes the muscles contract, the same squeeze-and-lift used in Kegel exercises. They come as single balls, double balls and sets.

Single, double or a set?

A single ball is light and easy to place. Double balls are longer and give the muscles more to hold. A set lets you change size or weight as you progress. Check each listing for the diameter and, where stated, the weight.

How to use Kegel balls

Wash the ball, apply a little water-based lubricant and insert it as you would a tampon, leaving the cord or stem outside. Squeeze and lift for a few seconds, relax and repeat. Begin with a few minutes lying down, then try standing or walking as it gets easier. Regular short sessions matter more than long ones.

When to ask for advice

Stop if you feel pain. If you have pelvic pain, are pregnant, have recently given birth or have symptoms such as leaking or heaviness, speak to a GP or a pelvic health physiotherapist first: sometimes the pelvic floor needs to relax, not tighten. Wash the balls before and after every use.
